How to Smoke It, If You've Never Smoked Anything Before
No lighter etiquette required. No prior experience necessary.
It's fair to assume some people will come to Ky Tea having never smoked anything in their life: no cigarettes, no flower, nothing. And we know from experience that the same people who want to ask us "wait, how does this actually work?" are too embarrassed to ask out loud. So here's the plain version, no assumptions.
Grind it. A hand grinder gets you an even, consistent burn. If you don't have one, breaking the herbs apart gently with your fingers works too; just avoid packing it too fine or too coarse. You're aiming for something close to the texture of dried herbs from your spice cabinet.
Pack it. Whatever you already reach for works: a pipe, a rolling paper, a one-hitter. Don't know what right for you? Take a moment to search youtube for different method nd try a few until you find one that works for you. There's no special Ky Tea method. Pack loosely enough that air can move through it - too tight and it won't draw, too loose and it burns too fast.
Light it slowly. Herbal blends burn cooler and gentler than tobacco, but they still deserve an unhurried flame. Draw slowly, not sharply.
Exhale, then wait. This is the part people skip. Give yourself a moment before you decide what you're feeling. Herbs work differently than what you might be used to - quieter, slower to arrive, longer to stay.
Start with less than you think you need, especially with something like The Ascent. You can always smoke more. You can't undo a session that hit harder than you expected.
None of this is complicated. It's just new, if it's new to you. And there's no version of doing it wrong as long as you're going slow and paying attention to how your own body responds.
